Book Review: The Elite by Kierra Cass

The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass

Genre: Young Adult, Dystopian
Goodreads Description: Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.
WOW! Words can not even explain how much I love this series! This book was so amazing that I could just not put it down. I am hopelessly in love with Maxon! What an amazing, patient, caring guy! He is just that character you can't help but love and route for.

This book was awesome because you got to see a lot more of the world that the royal family lived. It wasn't only focused on the dates between Maxon and the girls. You got to know the royal family a lot more. Finally getting to see the true personalities of the king, the queen, and Maxon. Some of it shocked me! Just talk about craziness!

Also, the rebel attacks get intense! I was at the edge of my seat during all of those scenes. You never knew if it was the Northerners or Southerners until things really got going.

America did make me frustrated in this book though. She actually frustrates me throughout both books in the series. She can be very childish and selfish sometimes, but so grown up and awesome at other points. She is strong and stubborn but it gets her in quite a bit of trouble all the time. But I also love that her personality is like this because it seems more real. It helps me remember how young these girls actually are. America is a teenager and therefor it makes sense for her to be childish and selfish sometimes, but she is also old enough to know whats right and wrong at other times.

It was absolutely impossible to put this book down. I would be amazed if someone didn't like this book.

Book Review: Selection by Kiera Cass

I just finished this book last night, and all I have to say is... THE NEXT BOOK NEEDS TO COME OUT NOW! I know, I know it is coming this spring and just let me tell you I will get it and read it the day it comes out!
This book was so good! It was not predictable and thats a big plus for me! There are times when I can not figure out what boy I like most, or who I would like to see America end up with... Actually I still can't decide 100%. Also, the other selected girls are hard to read sometimes, I do not know who to truly trust in this book. It was awesome! I really am so excited to see what happens in the next book!
Another thing I loved about this book was the history of how the future became that way in the book. Like how the United States is no longer that, but is now the country of Ilea and run by a royal family. It is just cool how this book is put together.
Just a truly awesome book all round! I would totally recommend this to people! Especially anyone who likes Delirium, Hunger Games, Divergent, Matched, or any books similar to that.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars!

Now stay tuned for the next book that comes out April 23, 2013!
