Destroy Me by Tahereh Mafi

Destroy Me

Genre: Young Adult
Type: Dystopian

 Goodreads Description:

Perfect for the fans of Shatter Me who are desperately awaiting the release of Unravel Me, this novella-length digital original will bridge the gap between these two novels from the perspective of the villain we all love to hate, Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.

In Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment by seducing Warner—and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of. . .

Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his first priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, The Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arrives to correct his son’s mistakes, it’s clear that he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.

Set after Shatter Me and before its forthcoming sequel, Unravel Me,Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.

WOW!  I absolutely loved this book! Getting to finally hear Warner's side of the story made this series 10 times better than it was (and it was already incredible)! Also, you get to see inside the journal that Juliette is always writing in! All around it was amazing! I is good to finally see why Warner is so obsessed with Juliette and why he is also such a cold jerk! It is also incredible to see that he is not a blind heartless killer! The part about one of his soldiers that he shot in Shatter Me? I was so mad until I read this book and this was the turning point of my thoughts on Warner, was getting to see why he actually shot the soldier!
BUT, did it do it's job in switching me over to Team Warner? NO! I am sorry but even though I now like Warner... I am absolutely wishing and hoping that Juliette still chooses Adam in the end! So we will see because I have already heard a lot about Chapter 62 in Unravel Me and know that I will probably not be happy about it.

I give this book

Waiting On Wedesday!

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Breaking The Spine

This weeks pick:
Canary by: Rachele Alpine
Coming August 1, 2013
Goodreads Book Description:                                  Staying quiet will destroy her, but speaking up will destroy everyone.

Kate Franklin’s life changes for the better when her dad lands a job at Beacon Prep, an elite private school with one of the best basketball teams in the state. She begins to date a player on the team and quickly gets caught up in a world of idolatry and entitlement, learning that there are perks to being an athlete.

But those perks also come with a price. Another player takes his power too far and Kate is assaulted at a party. Although she knows she should speak out, her dad’s vehemently against it and so, like a canary sent into a mine to test toxicity levels and protect miners, Kate alone breathes the poisonous secrets to protect her dad and the team. The world that Kate was once welcomed into is now her worst enemy, and she must decide whether to stay silent or expose the corruption, destroying her father’s career and bringing down a town’s heroes.

Canary is told in a mix of prose and verse.

I have been very interested in this book ever since I saw it on goodreads! It sounds really good and interesting. I have a feeling this will be an emotional read but also a very good story.
What book are you just dying to get your hands on?

Book Review: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me by +Tahereh Mafi

Genre: Young Adult

Book Description:
Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

WOW! I can't find words worthy of saying how awesome this book was! This book was so crazy! I could not put the thing down! In fact, at one point my roommate had to take the book from me just so I could study for a test I had the next day!
So this book was like X-men meets a crazy awesome dystopian world! I loved everything about it! From Juliette's obsession with numbers(which sounds weird but was a big thing to her because for the longest time it was the only thing that kept her sane) to the amazing love story between Adam and Juliette, to the crazy psycho leader who is also in love with Juliette. Which can I just say Warner is super crazy! Like "so creepy you get the chills from this guy" crazy!
Another thing I loved about this book was that you never knew what to expect!! You didn't know who to trust and you couldn't guess what was going to happen next! This is so awesome because I am sure everyone will agree with me when I say there is nothing more disappointing when you can guess the whole story before you even get too far into it!
SPOILER ALERT!!! (you have been warned)
So, my heart totally breaks for Juliette in this book. I could not imagine what it would be like to have a deadly touch. But can I also say that she is super lucky she can touch Adam! He is so freaking amazing and just awesome! Yes, you do find out that she can also touch Warner(which if you have heard anything about Unravel Me chapter 62, you know it comes into play) but thats not the point in this book.
One of the best parts in the book is when Juliette goes super kick butt and ends up busting up a whole concrete wall with her powers because she is so pissed off at Warner! And then later on when she is able to claw through a steel door that is a couple inches thick to save Adam! How awesome is she!!!
I was so on edge the whole time from when Adam and Juliette escape to the end of the book! I was totally rooting for them to get away but it was so stressful when Warner and his army came to where they were hiding out! I was totally biting my nails at that part!
But I love when Kenji finally gets them to safety and Juliette gets a chance at not feeling alone anymore! Getting to hear about the other people's powers at this place is totally awesome!!

5 out of 5 stars!!!!!

What you will look like while reading this book!

Book Review: Picture Perfect by Alessandra Thomas

Picture Perfect by: +Alessandra Thomas

Coming Soon!

Genre: New Adult

Book Description:
Fashion design major Cat Mitchell has a closet full of gorgeous clothes - and not a single thing fits. After two years of runway modeling for easy cash, an accident shattered her lower leg bone and her self-esteem in just one swift fall. Ten months of no exercise, prescription steroids, comfort eating and yoga pants meant returning to campus as a size twelve instead of her former size two. When her gorgeous long-time friend with benefits sees her for the first time after her accident and snubs her in front of all her friends, Cat’s self-image hits rock bottom. Her sorority sisters all insist that she looks gorgeous, but all Cat sees is the roll of her stomach when she sits down, or the dimpling at the back of her thighs that wasn't there last year. Cat’s therapist prescribes something radical to stop the downward spiral - nude modeling for a nearby college's human form drawing classes. When Cat faces her fears and bares it all for the class, she realizes that she's posing naked in front the most gorgeous, buffest guy she's ever seen in her life. He asks her out after the class, and after one steamy night together, Cat's absolutely smitten.Nate’s pretty close to perfect – he takes Cat rock climbing when he discovers that it makes her feel strong and becomes a great chef after he learns that the perfect pesto sauce makes her swoon. Cat starts to feel like her old self again - confident and beautiful - as long as Nate's around. Even when he discourages her from entering the Real Woman Project, a design competition for plus-sized apparel, she reasons that he's just trying to prevent old body image wounds from splitting wide open again. But when Cat goes home with Nate for Thanksgiving, she discovers something shocking from his recent past that proves that he hasn’t always been so encouraging of women of all shapes and sizes. Cat has no idea what to think, but she does know one thing - this might destroy their relationship before it's even had a chance to get off the ground. Before Cat can figure out whether the real Nate is the sensitive, adoring guy she fell in love with, or an undercover asshole, she'll have to finally feel comfortable in her own skin - even if it means leaving him forever.
This book was so inspiring! I was lucky enough to get a chance to read this book already and all I can think is wow, amazing! Taking you through the thoughts of Cat trying to learn to love her body again. The whole book is a roller coaster of emotions. It takes you through the highs and lows of college life and dating and friendship. Speaking of friendship, I must say that Cat's best friend Joey in this book is so awesome!! She is totally the type of friend everyone wants! She is funny and truthful but not to the point of being mean and she is so feisty!
Cat and Nates relationship is absolutely amazing! He is so good to her, so loving and caring. He just wants to help her feel better about herself and he does help her when she is with him.
Also, may I just say that this book is so sexy! I mean totally hot!
Possible Spoilers:
This book was amazing all the way throughout! BUT, the absolute best was the last half of the book! When Cat finds something out about Nate that totally shatters her world, she just up and leaves him. And when Nate tries to call to get answers, Joey totally goes kick butt and stands up for her best friend! I was a little worried at first because I was afraid that Cat would totally shatter, but she only got stronger! It was awesome! But I was totally torn up about Nate and wanted him to get a chance to explain. When he does, let me just say this boy totally does it in the most perfect way and actually helps Cat!
