When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?

Book Review: Level 2 by: Lenore Appelhans

Book Description:

Three levels. Two loves. One choice. Debut novelist, Lenore Appelhans has written a thrilling otherworldly young adult novel about a place that exists between our world (Level 1) and what comes after life (Level 2).
'I pause to look around the hive - all the podlike chambers are lit up as the drones shoot up on memories ... I've wanted to get out of here before, but now the tight quarters start to choke me. There has to be more to death than this.'
Felicia Ward is dead. Trapped in a stark white afterlife limbo, she spends endless days replaying memories, of her family, friends, boyfriend ... and of the guy who broke her heart. The guy who has just broken into Level 2 to find her.
Felicia learns that a rebellion is brewing, and it seems she is the key. Suspended between heaven and earth, she must make a choice. Between two worlds, two lives and two loves.

My Thoughts:

WOW! This book was so awesome! This is not just another typical YA dystopian book! This is a completely different type of story! And can I just say I love how unique it is! This book had me so all over the place! I didn't know who to trust! And the main character Felicia is so kick butt!! She was totally awesome!

Another refreshing thing about this book was that there was no love triangle! It was nice to not have to choose which guy you wanted the character to be with! At first you are torn between Niel and Julian but then you realize quickly that there is no competition in Felicia's mind.

Level 2 is the kind of book you can't put down! each page you turn, your left wanting to read more and more because you want to know what happened to Felicia in the past and you also want to find out who the good guys actually are! It is definitely a MUST READ! Props to +Lenore Appelhans for this amazing and refreshing new idea for this book! What a talented author!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!!!

If you liked Level 2! Stay tuned for Level 3!!!!

If you have not read the first book in this series, then the following description will be a spoiler.

Amazon Book Description:

Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity - a debt that should've been hers. Now she is living a borrowed life, and she doesn't know what to do with the guilt. And every night, Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away. No matter how she tries to reach for his hand, she can never find it.
Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen - and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to help in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.
Nikki and Cole, along with Cole's bandmate Max, descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they'd anticipated - and more deadly. From a Lake of Blood and Guilt to Sirens' alluring tricks to insurmountable walls of rock and flame, the trio is given every reason to turn back and give up. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack - even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.
In this breathtaking sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we'll go to for the ones we love.

Awesome weekend of authors in KC

So this weekend, there were 4 authors in the KC area! It was so cool!

In the first location Readers World, in Lee's Summit, was +Trisha Leigh  (Author of Whispers In Autumn) and +Denise Swank  (Author of Here). I got to meet them and get my books signed! It was pretty crazy there though, with all the people in line, so I didn't have a chance to talk to either of them, but it was still fun and they are so nice! Plus they both have amazing books that you should totally check out!

Then, I headed over to Mysteryscape in Overland Park. Lets start by saying most amazing bookstore ever! It was nice and small, with the most amazing comfortable lounge chairs for you so you can enjoy a good read in a nice chair. Also, they had delicious coffee you could order too! What was really cool was that the place where they had the authors speaking was in a separate little area, so people coming in just to buy a book didn't have to interrupt the authors, or try and push through a line. The room where the whole signing and talk was, is usually a room filled with more lounge chairs and coffee tables so you can go relax and read or write! It was awesome!

Now on to the authors that were there! +Lenore Appelhans  (Author of Level 2) and +Emily Hainsworth  (Author of Through To You) were there to speak and sign! They were so much fun, and totally personable! My mom had come with me to this signing, and lets just say she does not read any books, and she liked them so much that she asked to borrow my books that they wrote! That is saying a lot! What was even more fun was getting to talk to them and getting to know how they came up with their books,  and how they became writers. Plus their books sound so interesting and I have not seen a single bad review on either book! I am halfway through Level 2 and had to force myself to put it down for a moment to write this post. (There will be a review soon! and then on for Through To You very soon after!)

Go check out their books and enjoy the awesomeness of them!!

Book Haul!

So I went to the book store today just to "look around" which lets be honest, it always means I will be walking out with something to read. So I got 3 new books that I am really excited about!

1. Starting with the book on top is The Fault In Our Stars by John Green! I love this book so much! I have already read it and it is one of my favorite books! I have this book on my kindle but when I find a book I love, I have to own an actual book of it! I know I am not the only one that does this, I mean come on be honest ereader people! There is nothing like an actual copy of a book you know you love! I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves YA that doesn't mind a book that makes you cry in some parts, and laugh hysterically the next.
See my review on The Fault In Our Stars HERE!

2. Now the book on the bottom left is The Diviners by Libba Bray. I have not actually read this book but I have heard quite a few good things about it. Plus it is set in the 1920's which I think is so fun! I love movies and books that take place in this era! It is one of my favorite time periods! I am super excited to read this and will put up a review when I have time to finish it!

3. On the bottom right is Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans. Once again this is a book I have not read, but also a book I have heard absolutely no complaints about! This one sounds like such a fun and intense book! I can't wait to read it and will let you know what I think as soon as I am done with it!

Book Review: Looking For Alaska by: John Green

Looking For Alaska
By: John Green

Amazon Description:
Miles “Pudge” Halter is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more (Francois Rabelais, poet). He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . . After. Nothing is ever the same.

My Thoughts:
This book was once again, another masterpiece by John Green. I absolutely love the way he writes and this book is once again another amazing showcase of his talent to write. When you read any of his books, you feel so connected to the characters. It is as if you know them and are apart of what is taking place.
This book takes you through so many emotions... From excitement because there are fun adventures, to shock at the major part of the book (read it to see), and then the roller coaster of emotion that each of the characters go through after the event that takes place.

This book gets 4 out of 5 stars!

Movie: The Silver Lining Playbook

I went and saw this movie tonight and I loved it! Never before have I seen a better performance from both Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. Such chemistry in this movie! They worked so great together. Plus both of them are looking mighty fine through out the film.
They both play characters with quite a few issues. They have anger problems, poor social skills, and have both faced something very tragic in there lives. through out this movie, they both learn to overcome all those things by helping each other.

It was such a great movie! I honestly do not know what else to say. It was so real, so not perfect, and that is what made it so perfect anyways. It just worked! This movie reminded me a lot of one of my all time favorite movies, "The Garden State."
This is a must see for everyone!

Book Review: Meant To Be by: Lauren Morrill

Meant To Be by: Lauren Morrill

Book Description:
Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.
It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").
But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.
Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

5 out of 5 stars!!!!!

My Opinion: This book was totally fun to read! It had adventure, drama, romance, and so many other emotions. I loved how up and down this book was, and you never knew what to expect! There were so many moments when I was frustrated with Julia and Jason. They both seemed to screw up at just the wrong moments. I was rooting for them, then rooting for Julia to go for the new mysterious guy, then back to Jason, then Mark, and so on so on. I was all over the place with this book but that is one of the things I loved most. I couldn't decide what I wanted to happen and the book kept me on my toes.
The characters are so real too! When I was reading this book, I would sometimes find myself saying, "come on Jason, what are you thinking?" or "Julia OPEN YOU EYES!" I actually felt like I knew these characters! It is awesome writing!

My favorite part (SPOILER ALERT FROM THIS POINT ON!)
One of the biggest things I love about this book is the fact that it addresses the "meant to be, perfect guy" topic. This time though, instead of everything being exactly perfect, and classic novel romantic, it is real life stuff! It isn't what Julia had pictured for herself, it isn't what she read in the books but she is still so happy! I loved this most about the book! Julia had her whole perfect guy picked out, and figured it would be everything she imagined, but instead gets Jason. But he really ends up being such a great guy!

Book Review: Selection by Kiera Cass

I just finished this book last night, and all I have to say is... THE NEXT BOOK NEEDS TO COME OUT NOW! I know, I know it is coming this spring and just let me tell you I will get it and read it the day it comes out!
This book was so good! It was not predictable and thats a big plus for me! There are times when I can not figure out what boy I like most, or who I would like to see America end up with... Actually I still can't decide 100%. Also, the other selected girls are hard to read sometimes, I do not know who to truly trust in this book. It was awesome! I really am so excited to see what happens in the next book!
Another thing I loved about this book was the history of how the future became that way in the book. Like how the United States is no longer that, but is now the country of Ilea and run by a royal family. It is just cool how this book is put together.
Just a truly awesome book all round! I would totally recommend this to people! Especially anyone who likes Delirium, Hunger Games, Divergent, Matched, or any books similar to that.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars!

Now stay tuned for the next book that comes out April 23, 2013!
